Day 1, 6:40am , San Fran Airport, 5-24-09

So, Peru huh? Crazy to think that that is where we´re headed today. Maybe it´s hard to comprehend because I´m so tired. We had to get up at 4 this morning to get here on time. We just got through security. What a freaking hassle! We had to try and get our huge backpacker´s backpacks through without having to check them. The man waved my sister through but held me back, which is unfair since her backpack is about fifteen pounds heavier than mine. I think it´s because I´m shorter and was less confident about carrying such a huge and ungainly thing. Or, it could be because I nearly knocked over the sign and the metal line posts on my way into security. Anyway, the man made us take some stuff out of the packs to make them shorter. He really was nice about it and even gave Tina a big plastic bag to stick everything in. Luckily, I had enough room in my little bag to stuff everything in so I didn´t have to throw anything away. I´m glad we got through security, but we still need to make it onto the plane. The steward on the plane may take one look at us and be like ¨Seriously? Hell no!¨and make us check our bags, which would be very very bad. We probably would not make our next flight if we did. On international flights, you have to be there, at the minimum, two hours in advance. We touch down exactly two hours and three minutes before our flight. There is no time for picking up bags at the baggage claim. W still have to get out of the domestic terminal, find the international terminal, and go through security once again. That is all for now. I´ll update later if we make it out alive.
